Do you remember your first car? How about your last?

My Last Car is an epic road trip that explores the life and death of the car through a series of poignant, funny and uplifting tales.  Our voyage is part exhibition, part live performance and part community celebration. It explores all that the car means to us at the end of a great transport era.

We have carefully dismantled a Rover 316 Cabriolet and filled a gallery with thousands of car objects. From wipers and cogs, windows and springs to camshafts, pistons and filters.

Each part is labeled with messages and stories, facts and dreams about cars. The car becomes becomes the stage set for our performances.

We tell tales of cars both good and bad. We look at the future and what it might hold. We share moments of magic, mystery and and motorway madness.

Join the My Last Car experience this year. We are in North Yorkshire at Bentham Town Hall (30th May - 2nd June 2012) and Ryedale Folk Museum (14th July - 5th August 2012). Go here for exhibition and performance details.

In Bentham and Ryedale we will create parallel celebrations that look at getting around without a car. In Bentham on Saturday 2nd June there will be a day of car inspired chaos - My Last Carnival.

Do you have a car story you want to tell us? Go here to answer a few questions and tell us your story.

My Last Car was first performed at Warwick Arts Centre in October 2012.

And suddenly week three is upon us! The glorious deconstructed car will be taken away to Bentham on Wednesday and we will be left with no set whilst it is installed over the weekend. When you take a car apart you end up with a lot of stuff and it's heavy! Our performers Jo Mousley and Howard Chadwick have been playing all over the car for the past two weeks and soon they will be reduced to working with props and chairs.... as Howard observed, this is the reverse to the way things usually happen in rehearsals - the set arrives at the end, it shouldn't disappear. All will be back to normal when we start working in Bentham next Sunday.

Nearly at the end of week one of rehearsals. So much has been accomplished and car conversations abound.

Today the carbon brick came out - 3.2 kilos of solid carbon. It's a bit bigger than a housebrick and is the amount of carbon emitted by the average size car in 50 miles. We've known this for nearly a year and it's still shocking....

Rehearsals start on Tuesday with a great team.

Jo Mousley and Howard Chadwick are our new performers, and they will be navigating their way around the dismantled Rover 316 that is our set. Claire Browne and Hollie Bryan will be firing up the production and stage management engine.

Sarah Woods has given the script a  5000 mile service. Shanaz Gulzar, Bryan Tweddle and Steve Gumbley have put on their driving goggles.

We will be test driving the show in Sowerby Bridge before burning rubber in High Bentham at the end of May.

I know, I know, enough of the car metaphors already.

Today we are going to print. All we need now is a good home for 15,000 flyers!
